Monty Ranks

The NBA Source ranks the NBA Head Coaches. The Warriors Mike Montgomery is ranked the 26th best coach in the league.

The former Stanford Cardinal coach was considered a puzzling choice to be the Warriors head coach coming into last season, but he showed a lot of poise and growth in his inaugural year after leading Golden State to a 18-9 record in the last two months of the season. Expectations are exceedingly high in Oakland for next season, so it's important Montgomery sustain the same momentum right from the get-go, otherwise he might have to go-get another job.

We're not saying he can't get better and improve his rank, but as of right now 26th sounds about right. A question that is sure to draw some fiery discussion, how would you rate Coach Montgomery as an NBA Coach?

people on this blog pose themselves in an interesting position. a position that does not necessarily have a downside or a loosing edge. people here proclaim extreme negativity in all the actions that the warrior organization as of late has been making, this is not directly related to the "Monty Ranks" comments made by these bloggers.

the reason why this is so interesting is they can talk all the smack they want about dunleavy, ike, monty, etc...

but when the warriors start winning and when they start showing what people have been raving about, when dunleavy breaks out or when ike shows his cabalities, then its ok because they can all say "yes thats exactly it! i knew those guys would do good, we were just saying all those negative stuff because we wanted them to do good, tough love".

seriously bloggers, i better not come back here a couple months from now with bloggers the likes of "atma" raving about how great the warriors are and how he always knew dunleavy had it in him.

your an old breed, those negative warrior fans who is still dwelling on the pass and manifests it on negativity and criticism without credibility. just to let you know for the other "MAJORITY" of warrior fans out there im sorry its time to move on its a new age.

Sounds like a new Warriors fan to me. Excuse me for being negative sds. I've been in the bay area long enough to know that you never get overly excited about anything because you set yourself up for dissapointment. There is a reason why the Warriors are the longest term team to go without making a playoff run. And it ain't because we are negative. All of us here are extremely excited for this coming season and we all have a sense that this could be our year!!
BUT, at the same time, we aren't fools to history and know fully well as much excitment and anticipation we have that we must also be realistic. I put Warriors making the playoffs in the 7th or 8th spot. I think thats pretty optimistic for this season.

Always good to hear from you on our comments boards. We can tell you're a huge Warriors fan and a frequenter at the BLOG.

I'm a little curious about how you can depict us as "proclaim[ing] extreme negativity". Look back through our archives. What are you specifically referring to? You'll be hard pressed to find negativity, but you will find a LOT of humor and analysis as sharp as anyone in the local sports media.

Talking all that smack? Sure, we've dissed Dunleavy thoroughly:

but if you're reading only bitterness you're reading us wrong. You should be able to tell from the pictures that there's a lot of humor involved (and believe you me, we've got something HILARIOUS in the works).

Look back through our archives- where is "all the smack" about Ike and Monty? The day Ike got drafted we joked around that he reminded us of Fortson (who I personally liked). That's not exactly talking smack. He's a Warrior and we're down with Ike. We never mind criticism, but we do mind inaccuracy.

When the Warriors start winning, no one will be happier than us. Find somewhere where we've said a ton of negative things about the 2005-2006 Warriors. You will see analysis of their holes, but you aren't going to see "negative stuff."

When "Dunleavy breaks" out as you claim, every joke we've ever made will still be up on this site in the archives. Have fun- call us on anything. I think it's safe to say that even if Dunleavy becomes an All Star he won't be our favorite Warrior. If Dunleavy blows up, call us out- none of us right now think he has it in him.

You might want to be cautious about referring to us just as "bloggers". There's nothing amateur going on here.

Questioning our credibility is pretty strange. Any jokes or criticism we've made has been based on real happenings. Please point us to what you are referring too.

A final shot- you seem to be mistaking a lot of our humor as negativity. Whenever you read this site always keep in mind that it's the product of 6 crazy Warriors fans who routinely crack bad jokes and cheer the loudest in the arena for one of the worst franchises in all of sports for the past decade. If there's anyone who's looking forward to this upcoming season, it's us.

As always we love to hear everyone's feedback on the board and via email at

We read EVERY word you write!

I'll try to be a little more positive in any event. As a current season ticket holder, i just can't wait till the season starts. I'll be able to give inside analysis of the cheerleaders. hhhhhmmm cheerleaders.

i may have overreacted to some of the comments i made. i find it hard sometimes to make humor out of the warriors nowadays because its been a depressing pass.

i'll comment on your comment when i get the time next time around.
