Last High Call

Last stand for preps to pros Guard Ellis among those to get in before new rule takes effect by Janny Hu for SFGate.com

When Portland's Martell Webster bodied up Monta Ellis a couple of days ago, he created more than a mismatch. He created history.

Two high school players going at it in their pro debut; two members of an endangered species about to go extinct.

Under the league's new collective bargaining agreement, players must be 19 and a year out of high school to enter the NBA Draft starting next summer. The rule makes Webster, Ellis and Boston's Gerald Green the last of their kind and a sideshow here in Vegas.
