Who Should the Warriors Select?

Is anyone excited about Channing Frye or Charlie Villanueva working the low post for the Warriors? No? Me neither. So why not spend that pick on someone with potential? Here’s my take on a few possibilities:

SF Danny Granger
Chad Ford commented that had he played at a big school like Duke and not little New Mexico, he’d go top 5. Plus he's a nice replacement for Dunleavy. Injuries aside he could be one of the better prospects to come out of this draft.

PG Raymond Felton
He’ll probably go higher than 9, but if he is available, the Warriors should take him. He’s super quick, athletic, and has great court vision. The only knock on him is that he’s only 6 feet. Additionally, B-Diddy never seems to be healthy for an entire season, so having a solid backup PG is critical (no, Fisher doesn’t count). Or think of the quick, explosive, but small backcourt they could have with Felton at PG, Baron at SG and JRich at SF.

Trade Down
The Warriors should explore the possibility of trading down to pick up a veteran big man and then draft Hakim Warrick or Ike Diogu, two guys that can contribute immediately. Warrick is an absolute freak of nature with crazy hops and mad D. Diogu can post up and play some D.

Let me know what you think. Post a comment about who you want the Warriors to select.

hmmm, trade down and take Warrick. But they absolutely, positively have to take Nate Robinson in the 2nd Round.

Salim Stoudemire (great shooter) would make a nice 2nd round pickup too.

i actually like the idea of drafting Raymond Felton just because they are one knee injury away from mediocrity. I wasn't that impressed with him during this past season in comparison with guards like Williams and Paul, but at least you potentially have someone who can handle the rock and distribute.

The latter part is exactly what I think they should do. If I could trade down and get Warrick, I'd jump all over it!

The Baron Davis phenomenon showed the importance of the PG. If Baron goes down we're screwed, unless we draft a quality PG. Our last high-pick PG was Hardaway, who brought new life to the team. Among the top 15 draft prospects are some PG's whose ratings vary wildly among different writers. I hope the Warriors pick the right one.
