Warriors coach will lean on Smart advice

Monty will lean on Keith Smart's advice and experience to help him coach this season.

There's Mike Montgomery, one of the most acclaimed college basketball coaches in history after posting 25 winning seasons in 26 years in the NCAA. There's John MacLeod, whose 707 victories are 15th most in NBA history. There's Mario Elie, who as a player won two NBA titles with the Houston Rockets and one with the San Antonio Spurs.

But the key to the Warriors' bench this season is Keith Smart, who is in his third year as an assistant. His résumé might not drop any jaws, but his widespread experience and player relations will play a major role in this team's success. He's the one Warriors coach with experience in nearly every necessary perspective.
