The Promise of Diogu

Diogu shows promise, but still has lot to learn by Marcus Thompson II for the CC Times

Diogu impressed many during summer league. Even Warriors executive vice president Chris Mullin was lickihttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gifng his chops while watching Diogu go to work. It's clear he has all the makings of a solid power forward. His summer league statistics hint at his ability to produce. He averaged 18.4 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds in the five games. He shot 59.3 percent from the floor and made 22 of 26 free-throw attempts.

But just as clear is that he needs work. He is hardly a finished product. Summer league was just phase one of Diogu's development into the power forward the Warriors need. He's going to work out at the team's practice facility in Oakland until training camp begins in October.

You're right. Fortson would have had 16 rebounds. Just joking!

I actually liked Fortson back in the day, so don't think of the comparison to Fortson as an insult.

Don't put too much stock in what happens in the summer league though. Nikoloz Tskitishvili was the MVP last season.

Having said all that-
Everyone here at the Golden State Warriors BLOG hopes Ike blows up.

And I have a feeling he will.
